A mouth-blown, hand-painted Christmas ornament will last for years. Provided you don't treat it like a cheap plastic item from a bulk pack. The glass is thin and the paint is applied by hand, so a little care goes a long way. No rocket science, just a little attention.
Clean dry
Dust can be wiped away with a dry, soft cloth or a brush. No water, no cleaning agents, no wet wipes. Moisture can creep under the paint, and nobody wants that. Hold the ornament by the cap or the bottom, not by the painted part, as fingerprints leave marks.
Packing without breakage
Wrap each ornament separately in soft paper or a cloth. Don't throw them together in a box, because glass against glass will tap and tap until something breaks. A box with compartments or the original packaging works best. Place the heavy toppers at the bottom and the light hangers on top.
Store dry and stable
Store the box in a place without large temperature fluctuations. No damp cellar, no scorching hot attic right under the roof tiles. An indoor cabinet is fine. Don't put anything heavy on top, because a closed box protects against dust but not against a stack of books.
